The Opportunity

Employment Type: Temporary Part Time 0.4 FTE September 2025

Hours of Work: 1500 - 2315h, No weekends.

Must be actively registered with HCA Directory of Alberta before applying. Must have 2 years recent HCA experience. Must be fluent in written and spoken English and medical English. This position is physically demanding and has many hours of repetitive motion tasks such as, but not limited to, standing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, squatting, pushing, pulling, overhead reaching, portering, transferring and lifting of up to bariatric clients. Preference given to applicants with previous experience with diagnoses of dementia and mobility disorders.

Wages: as per current AUPE Collective Agreement, all new external hires will start at Step 1 of the pay scale. Letters of Portability accepted at hire.

You will provide assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, meal service and leisure activities and other related duties.

Personal Care Attendant (PCA) certificate and experience working with seniors and those with dementia is preferred. You are able to work well within a team, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and are a strong communicator in both verbal and written English. Food Safe 1 is required (post July 29, 2013) or equivalent for BC employees and Food Safety Basic or equivalent for Alberta employees.

Requirements:

  • A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and, if applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
  • A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
