Seen as guest’s first & last impression of a dining experience, provides prompt, courteous, and friendly service to restaurant guests.The host/ess will do this by greeting them with a smile and arranging adequate seating conditions, ensuring the general upkeep and cleanliness of the restaurant, take reservations and ensure customer satisfaction during the dining experience and e ffectively deal with all guest questions and concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of Food & Beverage and Guest Service experience in a Hotel or related industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of guests, employees and management.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Very Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform heavy lifting up to 70 pounds if needed to assist in stocking and cleaning restaurant.
  • SmartServe Certified.

Daily Tasks

  • Provides all guests with friendly and professional service in a timely manner by:
  • always being present at the entrance
  • smiling, greeting & seating guests
  • thanking them at the end with a return invite & wishing them a good day
  • answering the phone within three rings for inquiries, reservations, or taking room service orders
  • rectifying all guest issues and concerns in a professional manner
  • Maintains the restaurant reservation book by constantly updating, organizing, confirming and informing management and staff of upcoming bookings & events.
  • Adjusts ambiance music & lighting, displays & signage.
  • Maintains the work area in a clean, presentable and orderly manner. Checks overall cleanliness and readiness of all areas of the restaurant.This includes bussing or setting tables as needed, assisting in stocking restaurant supplies as needed or requested and ensuring tables and carpet areas are presentable at all times.
  • Knows the menus, prices, food preparation, current promotions and daily specials.
  • Helps in all guest service aspects when needed as instructed by management.
  • Completes all side work including wiping clean and storing all menus, cleaning & organizing the host stand, cabinet shelves & drawers.
  • Completing all necessary control sheets with opening numbers and closing numbers recorded.
  • Must be able to deal with guest questions, comments and complaints in a warm and hospitable manner. Establishes guest contact and resolves guest complaints using empowerment guidelines with management approval.
  • Communicates any work related issues, conflicts, incidents and accidents to management in a timely manner.
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and training sessions.
  • Checks bulletin board frequently for posted memos, schedules, announcements and other information, also reads and maintains kitchen board updated for daily specials and out of stock items, confirming it with management.
  • Reports to work on time and in uniform as scheduled, follows call-in procedures, notifies and/or gets authorization from management before leaving workstation.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Management.
