Your Opportunity:

Are you looking for a flexible opportunity to demonstrate and develop your Physiotherapy expertise while providing exceptional patient-centered care? Cancer Care Alberta (CCA) and the Rehabilitation Oncology (RO) program at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre are currently looking for a temporary, part-time Physiotherapist I (PTI) to join our supportive team. In this role, you foster a caring, flexible and self-directed approach working closely with our interdisciplinary team of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Physiatrists, and Speech-Language Pathologists. Responsibilities will include triaging and screening referrals, assessment and treatments, creating individualized care plans that reflect best practice and contributing to patient and staff education materials. You will deliver care in a variety of formats including one on one and group sessions as well as virtually through phone, Zoom and Telehealth. The PTI will also participate in quality improvement and research initiative that strive toward enhancing the patient experience and outcomes. Applicants should have the ability to work Monday through Friday as the caseload may change to meet operational requirements. Our team of rehabilitation and psychosocial healthcare professionals provide support from the time of diagnosis through treatment and beyond, helping patients navigate their journey with empathy and understanding. CCA is a leader in cancer prevention, treatment, survivorship, and palliative care. Clinical mentorship is available across the province via virtual and in-person sessions. Education is offered via in-services, rounds and case consultations to enhance clinical skills and current best practice approaches in oncology. New graduates are welcome to apply.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Experience providing physiotherapy care in an interdisciplinary team. Minimum 1 years of working experience in an inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation area. Experience working with Therapy Assistants. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Active Heart and Stroke Foundation BLS Certification by first day of work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year of oncology experience (e.g. pain and symptom management, head and neck cancer care, breast cancer care, CNS cancer care). Full or partial certification in lymphedema management (e.g. Vodder, Klose, Norton). Experience providing virtual care in the last 12 months. Alberta Aids to Daily Living authorizer status. Experience working with Therapy Assistants. Experience facilitating groups. Master’s degree in Physiotherapy.
