Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands Position Overview Reporting to the Supervisor, RCC Facility Operations and working out of one of the City’s arenas and/or pools. The Arena Pool Operator’s primary function is to operate and maintain the City’s public arenas and pools Responsibilities The successful applicant will:
  • Maintain Class A & C pools, splash pads and wading pools including but not limited to backwashing, filter room maintenance and water chemistry testing
  • Prepare, maintain, and remove ice surfaces as well as monitor and adjust the refrigeration equipment and keep appropriate records
  • Perform minor building renovations and set-up/take down of rooms for scheduled rentals as well as provide janitorial services and maintain related inventory
  • Provide front line customer service and maintain building and patron safety
  • Provide training/task supervision to part-time staff
  • Access to personal vehicle required as working at different facilities may be needed
Requirements The successful applicant will have experience using an ice resurfacer and edger, along with various power/hand tools The incumbent will also be comfortable troubleshooting issues with compressors, motors filters & pumps. The selected applicant must have basic computer skills to operate e-mail and Microsoft Office applications as well as possess or be able to obtain Standard First Aid /CPR C + AED. Certified Ice Technician (CIT), Certified Aquatic Technician (CAT) and/or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) with relevant experience in pools and arenas is considered an asset. This position will work a rotating day/afternoon schedule, including evenings and weekends Class B Refrigeration Certification and/or stationery 3rd Class engineer will also be considered an asset A valid G driver’s licence is required with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire) Police Check Requirement This position requires the successful candidate to provide a clear criminal record check at their own expense Hourly Rate The rate of pay for this position is $30.23 per hour – 95% of the hourly rate ($31.82) for the first six (6) months after which the hourly rate will be 100% of the hourly rate.
