Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Supervisor - Civil Technologist to join our Earthworks and Site Servicing Group in our Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or Waterloo Ontario, Canada offices. In this supervisory role, you will be responsible for leading a team of technologists and providing technical expertise in civil engineering projects. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to the success of diverse projects while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Lead a team of civil technologists, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, professional development, and high performance.
  • Coordinate work assignments, monitor progress, and provide feedback to team members to optimize productivity and quality of work.

Technical Expertise:

  • Apply advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices to analyze, design, and oversee the construction of various infrastructure projects.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, calculations, specifications, and other technical documents to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams, offering innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Project Management:

  • Assist in project planning, scheduling, and budgeting activities, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and address project issues proactively.
  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and presentations to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field.
  • Professional certification as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design and construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant engineering software. Experience with Microstation, InRoads, and other Bentley applications is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and deliver high-quality results under tight deadlines.
