Aviva is pleased to announce that we are currently recruiting for students for our summer internship Program for the period of May 2025 until August 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for post-secondary students to gain exposure to the insurance industry. Our program offers a variety of experiences across our insurance business unit. Aviva realizes the importance of crafting internships to develop talent to meet future requirements for entry-level insurance roles.

Aviva Canada has adopted a hybrid return-to-office model. This role will require you to work in the Toronto or Markham office.

The Data Governance (DG) team is responsible for setting the strategy, policy and direction of effective Data Governance across Canada. We are seeking an upbeat and passionate individual to join as our Data Governance Intern!

What you’ll do:

  • Support day to day tasks within the team.
  • Create reports and reporting views by looking at multiple data sources and aggregating data to report out the numbers.
  • Complete and perform analysis on different data points.
  • Update artifacts and content (if required) on the SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Work on planning and execution activities relating to different strategic initiatives.
  • Reviewing and validating teammates work to ensure accuracy, quality and alignment with standards while providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with general stakeholders involved.

What you need to succeed:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science with a minor in business or a Degree in business with a major in Technology IT or a related field or equivalent.
  • Being able to look at data from different sources, analyzing data and then reporting it out to stakeholders.
  • Significant experience using Microsoft office programs (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Proven understanding of technology and data.
  • Technology and data acumen.
  • Great attitude to learn new things and should be clear on what they want to get out of this 4-month engagement.
  • Demonstrates a desire to go above and beyond and hunger to learn and grow.
  • Ability to adjust with minimal supervision where priorities may shift due to changing business needs.
  • Strong verbal and written communicator with a high caliber, professional business demeanor.
  • A real passion for helping people.
  • Previous Insurance program or work experience is an asset.
  • Have a minimum 2.75 GPA or B average.
