Indigenous Economic Development Specialist

The Indigenous Economic Development Branch of the Ministry of Trade and Export Development promotes engagement and collaborative approaches with Indigenous partners in Saskatchewan to help advance their economic priorities and achieve successful outcomes.
The Indigenous Economic Development Branch has an exciting 2-year term opportunity in Regina for an Indigenous Economic Development Specialist.
Reporting to the Director, the position is responsible to:
- Work with Indigenous community and business leadership and stakeholders to identify priorities, opportunities, existing resources and barriers to economic development;
- Liaise between the communities and government ministries, agencies, municipalities and the private sector to link communities with resources, training opportunities; and
- Represent Trade and Export Development in inter-ministry and inter-governmental committees and in discussions with various Indigenous stakeholders to advance social development strategies, initiatives, and opportunities in indigenous communities.
Typically, the knowledge, skills and abilities required to achieve the above is obtained through:
- A university degree in administration or public policy, business/commerce, social development, project management, or community planning;
- Experience in project and process management, community outreach, communication, and building collaboration and strategic orientation through strong relationships with partners;
- Experience in facilitation, consultation, and interest-based problem solving; and
- Experience working with First Nations, Metis, and/or northern communities.
A valid Saskatchewan driver’s license is required as the position will travel regularly to communities across Saskatchewan.

The salary for this position will be updated to $40.375 – $50.593 once the Class Plan Renewal process is completed and the HR system has been updated.
