- Evening, weekend, and overnight shifts which provide many individuals the flexibility to attend classes, coordinate childcare and allow plenty of time for outside interests
- A fast-paced environment where you are active with youth out in the community doing activities such as swimming, hiking, fishing, and attending community events.
- The opportunity to build genuine relationships with children, youth and/or adults who have experienced complex challenges including behavioral issues, mental health disorders, substance dependency and other related issues.
- Excellent work experience for those looking to work in the fields of education, social work, nursing, corrections, or policing.
Education and Professional Certification
- Completion of a High school diploma.
- A certificate, diploma, or degree in Child and Youth Care (CYC) or a related field is an asset.
- At least one (1) year of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with behavioral, cognitive, mental health, or developmental challenges.
- Team player with a collaborative attitude, ready to work alongside others in a supportive environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills that allow you to build genuine connections with participants and colleagues.
- Leadership that motivates, guides, and models positive behaviors for those you support.
- Engaging and creative—whether it's through outdoor adventures, arts, sports, or other activities, you’ll find ways to connect with participants.
- Emotional intelligence that helps you remain patient, empathetic, and understanding in every situation.
- Problem-solving skills to navigate challenges and make thoughtful decisions.
- Knowledge of behavior management and support strategies that can help resolve conflicts and handle crises.
- A flexible mindset that allows you to adapt to new situations and challenges.

- Basic computer skills and the ability to leverage them in your daily tasks.
Services
- Provide compassionate support to individuals with complex needs, fostering a safe and nurturing environment where they feel valued and supported.
- Bring your creativity to life by helping develop and implement engaging activity plans that encourage participation.
- Collaborate with clinical professionals and unit managers to share insights that will help guide treatment plans and goal setting.
- Actively participate in team meetings, contributing your ideas and experiences to help improve the care we provide.
- Teach essential life skills like self-care, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and building positive social connections.
- Resolve conflicts with empathy and use behavior management strategies such as conflict resolution, crisis management, and life space interviewing to guide participants through challenges.
- Complete documentation and reports with accuracy and clarity, ensuring all agency standards are met.
- Perform other related duties as needed to support participants and the team.
- Guide and support new employees, practicum students, and volunteers, as directed by the unit manager.
- Lead by example, representing the agency’s values and demonstrating fairness, respect, and positivity.
- Collaborate and communicate with the multidisciplinary team when required.
- Contribute to the operational budget and unit’s capital plan.
- Track and reconcile expenses, submitting receipts for approved expenditures.
- Ensure agency vehicle logs are completed accurately when needed.
- Take pride in maintaining and caring for assigned assets and resources, including buildings, vehicles, furnishings, and equipment.
- Prioritize, promote and reinforce safe work practices, creating a secure environment for both participants and staff.
- Adhere to all agency and government regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure the well-being of everyone involved.
- Employees must hold a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher drivers license and be eligible for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.
- The successful candidate will work in a shift work environment as we operate 365/24/7.
- The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.
