The Ministry of Justice is responsible for providing a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government. The Public Guardian and Trustee of Saskatchewan requires a confident, well-organized individual to act as a trust officer for the Children and Youth Services Unit. The Children and Youth Services Unit ensures the legal, property and financial interests of children and youth are protected in accordance with the law.
As a Trust Officer, you must understand and apply legislation related to children’s financial, legal and property rights such as The Public Guardian and Trustee Act, The Children’s Law Act, and The Administration of Estates Act. The successful candidate will be expected to accurately review and interpret legal documents including Wills, Letters Probate, Letters of Administration and court documents such as Statements of Claim, Notice of Applications and Family Law Petitions.
You will review and interpret agreements including trust agreements and family property settlements. The candidate of choice will understand and apply for other possible financial benefits such as personal injuries or death benefits. You will monitor and administer trust accounts for children and youth, receive funds in trust and process requests payments from trust accounts. You will also be expected to have a good understanding of financial literacy and effectively analyze accountings.
Our candidate of choice will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective working relationships with our clients. The successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to engage and calm individuals who may be angry, resistant, and confused. The candidate must be able to convey information to the public, lawyers, parents/legal guardians and children regarding legal requirements and office policies in a service oriented and respectful manner. The candidate must be energetic, genuine, and confident to work with our clients, including children and young adults. Self-motivated, organized, and focused are valuable skills to meet high volumes of demand in a timely and efficient manner.
The salary for this position will be updated to $33.367 – $41.812 once Class Plan Renewal process is completed and HR system has been updated.

Hours of Work: A - SGEU Office 36 - one day off every two weeks
