Your Opportunity:
This position is responsible for performance of duties in the Clinical Lab Support Data Integrity department. Position is located at the APL - Manulife Place Edmonton. The duties include, but are not limited to identifying, investigating, and remediating discrepancies in the Epic Beaker Module in Connect Care Clinical Information System (CIS) and TeleMED utilizing various database systems (Client Registry, PD, Netcare, JIRA, Service Now). Duties include investigating and remediating order entry errors to ensure corrected lab reports are reissued for authorizing healthcare providers, investigating and remediating healthcare provider and submitting location information to ensure timely reporting of laboratory results, to ensure continuity of care and mitigation of patient safety risks that may occur due to delayed reporting. This position assists Health Information Management (HIM) team with remediating overlays and patient demographic discrepancies in Connect Care CIS and TeleMED. Remediation of discrepancies and order entry errors are performed by using approved APL laboratory policy, processes, and procedures. Also, they provide support/service to both internal and external clients at a provincial level, participate in system testing programs and submit Submitter/Provider build requests into Epic Beaker data tables. The consequential vacancy process may be used to fill any resulting vacancies.

Completion of post-secondary education (e.g. course(s) in office of business administration, medical office assistant).
Additional Required Qualifications:Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook). Experience utilizing multiple information systems in a medical environment is required (i.e. Millennium, Sunquest, Connect Care, Client Registry, NetCare and Quanum). Intermediate proficiency in keyboarding skills. Fully competent in various types of laboratory patient registration required with a minimum 2 years of experience preferred and/or have 2 years of health information related experience. Sufficient knowledge in medical terminology. Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills required. Good analytical and decision-making skills required. Extreme accuracy and attention to detail is required. Must have the ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet established turn-around times and work within deadlines. Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to clearly convey information and questions to health care providers during remediation investigations. Ability to foster positive interpersonal skills with health care providers, professionals, peers, departmental management and patients. Ability to collaborate with others and to work independently through challenges. Ability to ethically balance business and client needs while maintaining data integrity. Ability to adhere to strict regional policies, procedures and legislated requirements regarding patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:Post-secondary education relating to the job, such as laboratory assistant with registration background, unit clerk, health information management certificate or nursing or equivalent experience. 2-3 years health care related experience. Knowledge of Lab Information Systems and experience utilizing databases.
