We are SLR Consulting (Canada), a 550+ team of advisory, environmental/engineering, and regulatory professionals across 18 office locations in Canada. We deliver environmental and sustainability services to our clients through the integration of advisory and over 30 technical environmental and engineering disciplines to help clients address some of their most complex challenges around sustainability, we are Making Sustainability Happen.

As our new Early Career Environmental Scientist / Engineer / Technologist in Saskatoon you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal.

Role

Your passion for fieldwork and the environment will see you executing and leading a variety of programs related to the assessment, monitoring, management, and remediation of contaminated sites. No two days will be the same as you lead and support different aspects of varied projects at a range of urban and remote sites including upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas facilities, commercial and industrial properties, and federal and municipal owned sites. Your knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our team and will see you involved in the full life-cycle of projects as you assist the project manager with budgeting, planning, coordinating, and executing projects, data analysis and reviews, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities:


  • Participation in all facets of environmental or contaminated site projects including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation programs, and long-term environmental monitoring
  • Lead fieldwork programs involving sampling and monitoring of soil, groundwater, soil vapour, surface water, and remediation programs
  • Prepare a variety of technical reports
  • Support with project planning, coordination, reporting, and tracking schedules and budgets
  • Assist with technical and financial proposal preparation

Qualifications/Education/Memberships:


  • Minimum of a degree or a technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental related studies
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in contaminated site work including but not limited to environmental site assessments, soil and groundwater sampling, and remediation programs.
  • Passion for fieldwork and availability to work away from home, potentially for up to 2 weeks at a time on occasion.
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to oil and gas facilities, construction sites, subsurface investigations, and contaminated sites
  • Able to work independently and in small teams, including ability to work in remote locations and adapt to conditions/resources.
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., E.I.T., G.I.T., P.Tech, etc.) is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license for travel to job sites/clients
