We are currently seeking compassionate and dedicated Temporary Part-Time Health Care Aides to join our resident care team based out of our Long-Term Care Centre at 7404 - 139 Ave NW, Edmonton, Alberta. Positions available are:

Position Details

• BD37 (6 months approximately)
• Days - 7am to various end times
• 29.70 hours per week, 0.77 FTE, 24 shifts in 5 weeks
• 2nd Floor
• BE43 (3 months approximately)
• Evenings - 3pm to various end times
• 22.50 hours per week, 0.58 FTE, 17 shifts in 5 weeks
• 2nd Floor
• BE10 (6 months approximately)
• Evenings - 3pm to various end times
• 21.60 hours per week, 0.56 FTE, 15 shifts in 5 weeks
• 1st Floor
• E17F (10 months approximately)
• Evenings - 3pm to 9:30pm
• 20.40 hours per week, 0.52 FTE, 17 shifts in 5 weeks
• 1st Floor, Red Pod Floater
• N2 (3 months approximately)
• Nights - 11pm to 7:15am
• 27.90 hours per week, 0.72 FTE, 18 shifts in 5 weeks

Opportunity

The Health Care Aide:

• Performs basic nursing and personal care duties in accordance with Resident Care plans and programs, and established Resident Care policies and procedures.
• Assists with personal grooming activities and dressing/undressing as required by the Care Plan.
• Provides appropriate skin, nail and foot care.
• Assists with toileting as required.
• Transfers Residents in accordance with established procedures into and out of the bed, wheelchair and tub.
• Observes and accurately reports changes in Residents’ conditions, behavior and participation in activities to the Case Manager or Staff Nurse Designated in Charge.
• Accurately charts pertinent information in accordance with established procedures.

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills with disabled and/or elderly Residents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• An ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) in the English language is required.
• Knowledge of the Ukrainian or other Slavic languages is an asset.
• Must demonstrate respect for the Resident’s independence, dignity and values.
• Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position on a regular basis.

Qualifications

• A graduate of a recognized Health Care Aide program.
• Current registration in the Alberta HCA Directory.
• At least one year recent experience, as a Health Care Aide in a long-term care setting is preferred.

Education

• Technical/other training or better in Health Care Aid
