The Opportunity
Employment Type: Casual FTE
Hours of Work: 0645-1500; 0930-1745; 6-1630
Wages: As per Collective Agreement
You will prepare, cook, and bake food for residents, staff and visitors while ensuring a high standard of sanitation in preparing and handling food. You will complete duties relating to modified/therapeutic diet and baking preparation by following established work methods in a safe and efficient manner. You will assist in coordinating meal production and quality and quantity control. Participation in the quality assurance program and departmental meetings is required.
Red Seal or Journeyman Cook preferred. Two to three years institutional cooking experience. You are knowledgeable of and able to implement quality food standards and quantity controls. A food safe level one certificate is required. (post July 29, 2013) or equivalent for BC employees and Food Safety Certificate or equivalent for Alberta employees. Computer skills an asset. Experience working with the elderly is preferred.
You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English. You are adaptable, organized and able to develop good working relationships. You have a genuine interest in working with the aged and chronically ill.

Requirements:
- A current and clear Criminal Records Check Form and if applicable a Vulnerable Sector Check that has been obtained no more than 90 calendar days prior to the hire date.
- A tuberculosis screening that has been completed no more than 12 months prior to the hire date.
