Key Purpose

The Community Engagement Coordinator collaborates with the Community Partnership Manager to foster meaningful community relationships and organize impactful events that support our mission. This role combines event planning and community engagement to raise awareness and funds for the organization.


Key Responsibilities

Community Engagement

  • Develop and support third-party fundraising initiatives and other corporate engagement opportunities.
  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and service clubs.
  • Foster positive public relations by serving as an ambassador for Red Deer Hospice within the community.
  • Represent Red Deer Hospice at community events, delivering presentations to promote our mission and services.

Special Events Coordination

  • Plan, organize, and execute Hospice events, ensuring alignment with fundraising and marketing goals.
  • Explore and propose innovative event opportunities to enhance revenue and awareness.
  • Collaborate with the Community Partnership Manager to design event marketing and communication strategies, including print, social media, and online campaigns.
  • Oversee logistical aspects of events, including sponsor recognition, volunteer coordination, and post-event evaluations.

Marketing and Communications Support

  • Support social media management to promote events and community initiatives, ensuring consistent branding and messaging.
  • Create visually appealing graphics, posts, and videos using design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Monitor engagement metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust strategies accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Event Management, Marketing/Communications, Project Management, or Fund Development. Equivalencies considered.
  • 3+ years of experience in event planning, community relations, or fundraising, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office & Adobe Suite applications.
  • Experience with SEO best practices and online content optimization is an asset.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Knowledge of the Red Deer/Central Alberta community is highly desirable.


Working Conditions

This position operates primarily onsite. You will be required to attend events and meetings in the community and work some evenings or weekends, depending on event schedules. Physical demands include minimal lifting of event materials and setup.
