Job Summary: As a member of the BGIS Sustainable Cleaning Solutions Team, you will be generally responsible for cleaning in a designated zone with an emphasis on quality control, health and safety & striving to exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean floors by sweeping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
  • Dry/wet mop (wash/scrub) and polish hard surface floors, using handheld or automatic scrubbers
  • Strip and finish hard surface floors manually or with power equipment
  • Transport garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor
  • Transport maintenance machinery between floors and job sites
  • Cleans and stores equipment and machinery used
  • Cleans glass areas requiring ladders or scaffolding
  • Cleans washroom floors including stripping and finishing
  • Cleans stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required
  • Loads and unloads supplies and replenishes cleaning solutions
  • Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Steam clean or shampoo carpets
  • Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs
  • Mix water and detergents to prepare cleaning solutions

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in performing cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance activities in an institutionalized environment
  • Experience using floor maintenance machines and cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy items and climb ladders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as assigned
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation:

  • Must meet security clearance requirements, where applicable
  • Must have a valid Class G license (may be required)
