ABOUT THE ROLE

Turner Construction, located in Vancouver, is seeking a full-time Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing (MEP) Coordinator. In this role, you will assist in evaluation, assessment, and management of Mechanical, Electrical, and Information Management and Information Technology (I.M.I.T.) systems for projects, supporting all aspects of the project lifecycle, including schedule, budget, and quality. The position requires availability to work on-site or in the office from Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of activities and exchange of information with Turner project team, subcontractors, owner’s consultants, and representatives to resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Prepare and manage contract items list for components, materials, and systems to ensure Required-on-Job (ROJ) dates comply with project schedule with appropriate approvals.
  • Evaluate, submit, and track equipment, materials, and shop drawing submittals and coordinate MEP work with trades.
  • Participate in Schedule Update Meetings and provide updated contract items list to ensure schedule alignment.
  • Evaluate and manage processing of Requests for Information (RFI’s).
  • Support budget management, including review and evaluation of change orders.
  • Facilitate MEP Coordination Process with Virtual Design Construction (VDC) team for documenting progress and Quality Control, with respect to constructability of 3D BIM model, point cloud scanning, overlay of MEP systems, and 360 degree photography.
  • Assist with design requirements, quality standards, and operations/maintenance compliance.
  • Investigate problems and develop solutions for issues with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Facilitate execution of turnover process including start-up, testing, commissioning, closeout, operations and maintenance manuals, securing warranties and guaranties, training, as well as obtaining spare parts and specialty tools that culminate in successful acceptance of all systems.
  • Participate in regular project walkthroughs to confirm MEP work is proceeding according to contract documents, coordination drawings, and approved submittals.
  • Coordinate with members of the team to develop and execute the quality control plan.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

This position entails the employee being able to climb stairs, use hoists, ladders, and navigate construction areas. The employee would frequently sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, handle objects/tools, reach, and engage in communication (talk and hear). They would also regularly use a computer, requiring close, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus. The employee would need to be mobile, with occasional travel. They may perform work at construction sites, offices, or off-site locations. The position requires lifting up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 25 pounds. The work environment includes exposure to moving parts, high places, fumes, weather conditions, and electrical hazards. Noise levels may vary from moderate to loud on construction sites and quiet to moderate in office settings. The employee must comply with safety policies and procedures, with reasonable accommodations available for disabilities.

ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management and minimum of 2 years of related experience with mechanical and electrical systems or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience
  • Internship/Co-op experience in construction, desired
  • Knowledge of general contract, subcontract documents, and drawings and specifications, desired
  • Professional verbal communication and business writing skills
  • Must have good interpersonal and teambuilding skills
  • High organization skills with attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft suite of applications

The annual base salary range for this position may be CA$70,000 to CA$97,000, depending on experience and fit.
