Clark Builders is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated HSE Co-op Student to work alongside the HSE Team. They will assist the HSE Team with on-site Safety as well as the enhancement of the Clark Builders Safety and Loss Prevention Manual. The focus of the term will be to expose the student to a variety of work environments which will help them in developing standards, training, forms, and audits for critical work activities. This opportunity will provide both office and field exposure, with some travel required. This will be a 4-month work term starting May 2025.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Research Industry Best Practices and legislative requirements to develop Clark Builders Standards
  • Engage with field teams to understand how work is performed in the field and integrate those findings into the Standards
  • Perform formal and informal inspections at job sites
  • Have a working knowledge of Clark Builders Safety and Loss Prevention Manual
  • Assist with the investigation and documentation of safety incidents
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the Clark Builders Safety Management System
  • Preparing and delivering Safety Meetings.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with tight timelines
  • Excellent organizational skills that demonstrate the ability to resolve conflicting priorities
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidential information
  • Able to influence and effectively communicate with others
  • Proficient computer skills

Qualifications:

  • Completion of 1st year OH&S Diploma
  • Must valid Class 5 Driver’s License and reliable vehicle
  • Must have a good understanding of workplace health principles, industry best practices and standards, health and safety legislation
  • First Aid and CSTS are assets
  • Previous construction experience, knowledge of construction processes, construction tools and equipment, and rigging experience an asset
