General Internal Medicine Physician
Interior Health Authority
Date: 1 week ago
City: Cranbrook, BC
Contract type: Intern
If you thrive in a team-oriented setting and are looking to practice in a welcoming community with endless lifestyle opportunities, look no further. We are seeking a highly motivated, energetic physician to join our General Internal Medicine team at East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) in Cranbrook, BC.
As part of our close-knit group of six experienced general internists, you will work alongside dedicated colleagues who share a commitment to providing the highest quality, patient-centered care. Together, we strive to offer the most up-to-date, comprehensive services to meet the needs of our diverse patient population. We believe in fostering a supportive, mentorship-driven environment, and we are excited to welcome a new team member who shares our passion for both clinical excellence and collaboration. New graduates are encouraged to apply and will receive robust mentorship as they transition into practice.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage in a broad range of clinical responsibilities. Our team is skilled in performing various procedures, including intubation, central lines, chest tubes, pigtails, temporary pacemakers, lumbar punctures, arthrocentesis, paracentesis, and more. As an integral part of our internal medicine team, you will manage complex cases, working in a fast-paced environment, and providing critical care in the ICU, where we have a 6-bed closed unit run by the internists. This is a fantastic opportunity to expand your clinical skill set while contributing to the comprehensive care of critically ill patients.
Outpatient care at EKRH includes a wide array of specialized clinics, such as our rapid access TIA clinic, chronic pulmonary disease clinic, diabetes clinic and CHF clinic with home monitoring. You will also conduct cardiac stress tests, manage MIBIs, stress echoes, Holter monitors, and event monitors, among other services. Our team is highly involved in advancing care in the region, and you will be part of this exciting, growth-focused environment.
Call duties are shared evenly among team members and involve both internal medicine consults and ICU coverage, ensuring a balanced workload. The opportunity to join a well-established outpatient clinic or even create your own private practice adds further flexibility to your professional journey.
For those interested, Leadership Development Opportunities are available with Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program. The NAVIG8 Emerging Physician Leaders Program is a comprehensive leadership development program designed specifically for physicians to address the practical leadership knowledge, behaviours and skills that high potential, emerging medical leaders require to step into leadership roles early in their careers.
If you are a dedicated physician looking for a challenging yet supportive environment where you can grow professionally and enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle, we invite you to apply today. It’s more than just a job—it’s a place to thrive, live, and play where others only vacation. It’s better here!
