KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Fundraising Strategist, you will work collaboratively and are responsible for:
Donor & Sponsor Stewardship
- Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and other potential supporters to secure significant gifts and ongoing support.
- Continually review donor retention and develops strategies to increase the donor database and secure recurring monthly, corporate and major donors.
- Work directly with the CEO and Management Team on fund development strategies, opportunities and relationships.
2. Fund Development & Grant Writing
- Steward relationships with grantors, maintain grant tracking database, manages grant portals for grant applications and reports, and submit all grant applications and reports within deadlines.
- Work closely with the leadership team on grants, grant content, budgets and funding to support departmental programs.
- Identify grant opportunities and collaborate with the CEO to ensure alignment with strategic and operational plans.
- Manage the fund development database with support from the Administrative Assistant to track pledges, recurring gifts, major gifts, sponsorships, and other donations.
- Prepare and provide monthly reports for the CEO on development activities, progress, and opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge of fundraising trends and disability inclusion trends, recommending strategies consistent with the organization’s mission.
3. Event Planning & Management
- Organize fundraising activities and campaigns including major annual events, with the support of staff and volunteers to ensure success and expanded reach into new markets (ex. Regina).
- Identify and explore new potential resource development and expand existing fundraising events and opportunities.
- Expand relationships through in-person support by representing the organization to share its mission and attract potential supporters.
QUALIFICATIONS
As a Fundraising Strategist you will bring:
- A degree or diploma in commerce, marketing, fund development or a related field.
- Proven experience in fund development with a track record of successfully securing gifts, grants and sponsorships.
- At least 2 years related fundraising experience including donor engagement, event planning, and implementing fundraising strategies within a non-profit environment.
- Knowledge and skill in fundraising management, with success in corporate development, major giving, and peer-to-peer fundraising.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse partners.
- Strong written communication skills, including grant writing, donor appeals, and reports.
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work independently to implement strategic plans with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in using computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite and internal databases.
- Valid drivers license to travel as required.
