As part of our strategy to provide ongoing support for our schools, the Board is now accepting resumes from qualified applicants for the full-time position- Accounts Payable Clerk.
The purpose of the Accounts Payable Clerk is to provide clerical services to the Finance Department relevant to the Accounts payable function.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Processes all invoices from various departments and external suppliers matching invoices with authorized purchase orders using the Board’s computerized accounting system.
- Processes all travel and expense reimbursements, including follow up on any discrepancies.
- Responds to internal and external inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintains vendor and purchase order files.
- Prepares bank deposits verifying accuracies of cheques and cash to vendor listing.
- Process any incoming and outgoing mail, related to the accounts payable function.
- Distributes correspondence internally and externally relating to payment of invoices.
- Reconciles supplier statements comparing to vendors file and unprocessed invoices.
- Performs weekly cheque run and reports, verifying requisitions, account codes and Vendors, and investigates and follows up on any discrepancies.
- Provides back-up duties for Finance Clerk preparing the daily cash voucher and maintaining the computer database.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Manager of Finance and/or Supervisor of Accounting.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 2 year college diploma in Business Administration or equivalent related college diploma.
- 1 to 3 years’ experience in a computerized accounting environment.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Advanced level computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and databases.
- A commitment to service excellence.
A police records check, with a Vulnerable Sector Search and Pardoned Sexual Offenders Database Search, dated within 6 months prior to the date of hire, is a requirement for employment with this Board. Please note that there have been reports that it has taken some candidates up to 6 weeks to obtain a police check.
