Purpose: The Manager of Patient Care Services (MPCS), reporting to the Executive Director, has an initial assignment of providing operational leadership for the Mood and Anxiety Outpatient Program. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the outpatient team, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery. The MPCS will work closely with the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead, and Executive Director to identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in service design, delivery, and overall program effectiveness.

Duties:

Leadership and Team Engagement:

  • Provide both clinical and administrative leadership to frontline staff, ensuring high standards of care and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee all activities related to recruitment, staff onboarding, scheduling, timekeeping, performance reviews, performance management, employee coaching, and support.
  • Manage in compliance within collective agreements and applicable legislation.
  • Facilitate change management processes and have a thorough understanding of conflict resolution.
  • Foster a learning environment and encourage professional development within the team.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal’s Harassment-Free Workplace policy.
  • Ensure communication and understanding of corporate strategic plan, policies, etc. with frontline staff.

Quality Improvement:

  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director, Clinical Lead and Executive Director to achieve strategic goals and objectives.
  • Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement and collaboration across teams.
  • Ensuring compliance with established standards of practice, corporate policies and guidelines.
  • Ensure indicators are developed, monitored and evaluated and communicated related to the mental health services provided.
  • Implement corporate initiatives such as quality and patient safety reviews and infection control protocols.

Client Care:

  • Demonstrate responsiveness to client feedback and ensure client perspectives are incorporated in planning.
  • Support the interdisciplinary approach to client-centred patient care and recovery principles.
  • Oversee the implementation of evidence-based practices and measurement based care.

Other Duties:

  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of the Royal.
  • Assist with budget preparation and ongoing financial variance analysis.
  • Participate in development and delivery of educational and informational programs for employees, clients, families, and public.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Allied Health or Nursing or acceptable combination of education and experience dependent on program area.
  • Current registration and member in good standing with applicable regulatory college is required.
  • Demonstrated leadership in planning, organizing, implementation and evaluation; proposal development; labour relations; budgeting.
  • Minimum of five years clinical experience working with in Mental Health, ideally in the area of mood and anxiety disorders, with a minimum of three years’ experience in progressive leadership in clinical services and administration.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (oral and written).
  • Experience having worked in an interdisciplinary team and with community partner agencies
  • Able to manage conflicting priorities and multiple demands.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislated acts (e.g. Mental Health Act, Public Hospitals Act, SDA, etc.)
  • English level A- is mandatory in oral expression, comprehension, reading and writing. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
