Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Psychology, the Psycho-Educational Consultant / Psychologist provides a comprehensive consultation service to Board Staff, students and parents, as well as professionals outside the Board. The Psycho-Educational Consultant / Psychologist conducts individual psycho-educational assessments of students whom are experiencing difficulty functioning within the school setting. The Psycho-Educational Consultant / Psychologist investigates possible learning and/or social-emotional disorders and formulates/generates suggestions for intervention strategies for pupils with special needs and must be available for after-hours consultation.
The incumbent shall perform duties of a Psycho-Educational Consultant as regulated by the College of Psychologists of Ontario and operates under the Standards of Professional Conduct as outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act and the Psychology Act.
Qualifications / Experience
Masters or Ph.D. degree in Psychology
Certificate of Registration through the College of Psychologist of Ontario. Must be a member in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Non licensed candidates would work under the clinical supervision of a registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Minimum of two (2) years recent work experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
Excellent writing skills, with experience writing and editing psychological assessment reports.
Excellent interpretive skill and analysis; computer literacy.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Capacity to engage members of diverse communities and skilled in a variety of consultation techniques, protocols, and strategies.
This position is covered by the A.P.S.S.P Collective Agreement.
Please note that the Board provides a responsibility allowance to Psycho-Educational Consultants of $10,000 annually (inclusive of professional designation/licensing fees and would be prorated, based on FTE and length of contract).
In addition, the Board agrees to pay an additional responsibility allowance of $13,000 annually for those that hold a Psychological Associate or Psychologist designation (this will also be prorated, based on FTE and length of contract).
