Permitting Specialist

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

• Research and identify permit requirements for telecommunications projects in Alberta and BC, including zoning, environmental, and utility permits
• Design, prepare, draft and submit (in AutoCAD) accurate and complete permit applications to relevant regulatory authorities
• Import AutoCAD, TIFF or other formats and other hard copy maps to create base maps
• Monitor the status of permit applications, proactively addressing issues or delays
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regional regulations and standards governing telecommunications infrastructure
• Ensure project designs and documentation align with local, provincial, and federal laws
• Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory inspections and compliance audits
• Track and manage permit renewal schedules for ongoing projects
• Provide training and guidance to project teams on permitting best practices

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

• Diploma or degree in Telecom Design/Drafting, AutoCAD, Civil or Electrical Engineering – P.Eng an asset
• 3+ years of experience in design & permitting preferably in the telecommunications or construction industry
• Familiarity with Alberta and BC permitting processes, including municipal and provincial frameworks
• Understanding of land-use planning, utility coordination, and environmental assessments
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
