Job Introduction
Graymont is seeking a bilingual (French and English) AR and Collections Specialist based out of Graymont's Richmond, BC Corporate office.
The AR Credit and Collections Specialist will work a hybrid work model based out of Graymont's Corporate Office in Richmond, BC
What you will do:
As the AR and Collections Specialist, you will follow established procedures for cash application, account reconciliations, and collections while balancing daily batch amounts with remittances received across multiple banks and entities. Your role includes reviewing and researching unapplied cash or credit card payments, analyzing complex customer accounts, and resolving issues related to weight, pricing, freight, and sales tax discrepancies. When necessary, you will escalate unresolved concerns. Additionally, you will manage assigned collection and credit responsibilities for the Graymont Group of Companies.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist in determining, reviewing, and updating credit limits and terms for new and existing customers using in-house credit history, references provided by banks and Dun and Bradstreet (D&B) reports
- Maintain activity logs of customer calls and correspondence
- Participate in monthly collection meetings to review delinquent accounts with AR & Credit Manager, Regional Director or VP Sales, etc.
- Liaise with Sales and Finance for non-routine credit issues
- Create new customer/vendor address book numbers (profiles) in JD Edwards
- Produce monthly statements for customers
- Archiving, record retention and audit support as required
- Assist with other duties as assigned within the AR department
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Business Management, or a related field. Collector’s Certificate from the Canadian Credit Institute (must be completed within the first 90 days of employment paid for by Graymont)
- Language requirements: Must be fluent in both French and English
- Systems Knowledge: Highly proficient in business software applications, including MS Office - Strong computer skills, with proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite of products including Outlook. Knowledge and experience using ERP’s (Oracle JD Edwards, SAP) considered an asset
- Professional Experience: 5 plus years’ experience in a related field
- Valuable Experience: Basic knowledge of accounting principles and understanding of invoice and credit/collection procedures. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written are key to success in this role. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, as well as internal and external customers. High level of adaptability and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Efficient, accurate, detail oriented with strong time management skills
