Our Sports Development, Wellness and Culture Department is looking for a dedicated Historical Site Attendant to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
The Heritage Site Attendant will assist the collections team at the Grande Prairie Museum with the research and development of exhibits in the museum and the heritage village. Other duties include collections maintenance, proper handling of artifacts, greeting visitors and leading tour groups. They will also assist with events at the Rev. Forbes Homestead.
The Heritage Site Attendant will be taught how to properly handle artifacts and be able to access collections for exhibits and other projects. They will learn collections management based on the museum's procedures and policies as well as the Alberta Museum Association's Standard Practice's Handbook and the Federal Government's Standards and Guidelines for the conservation of historic places in Canada.
They will be expected to assist in the daily operation and preservation at the Grande Prairie Museum and the Rev. Forbes Homestead.
Qualifications
This position is ideal for someone interested in local history or education and eager to take part in creative projects. Qualifications include a valid class 5 driver's licence, minimum one year of post-secondary education and the ability to lift 50 lbs. Current CPR and AED certificates are an asset. A criminal/vulnerable sector reference check will be required. This is a summer student position with Young Canada Works.
Hours
The standard workweek consists of an average of 35 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting salary $22.27 per hour as per the Out-of-Scope Agreement.
