Job Description
The Vessel Logistics Coordinator is responsible for the entry, revision, and verification of internal and external orders for all barges at Seaspan Marine. The role communicates daily with customers, terminal operators, and internal and external stakeholders to ensure all barges and vessels are utilized in the most cost-effective manner based on fleet and crew capabilities. A significant part of this job is to manage ongoing changes of complex deliveries and changing schedules, which involve juggling and mobilization of all internal and external resources to accommodate customer requirements.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 10 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.

What You’ll Do
- Responsible for entering and updating orders from internal and external stakeholders, including customers from oil & chemical, rail, and forest products industries.
- Assist in optimizing barge and vessel schedules by networking with Marine Dispatch & Personnel, Barge Operators, Port Captains, Engineering, and Barge Maintenance.
- Act as primary point of contact with external customers to provide updates on arrival and departure timeframes to ensure minimal customer disruptions.
- Apply knowledge of local port regulations, tides, and collective agreements to ensure vessel schedules are maintained without unnecessary delays.
- Coordinate schedules of Barge Operators for loading and discharge operations of oil and chemical barges.
- Coordinates with the Barge Operations team regarding barge repairs, refits, and inspections. Monitors repair status and availability of each barge to maximize equipment utilization and overall, Company profitability.
- Complete internal accounts receivable invoices and external accounts payable approvals.
- After-hours on call duties required on rotational basis.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Post-secondary education with minimum 5 years’ experience in logistics, transportation, or other related disciplines.
- Proven experience in vessel operations, logistics, or maritime coordinator strongly preferred.
- Ability to multi-task while staying mentally focused with the customer’s changing requirements.
- Ability to display tact and diplomacy when dealing with complaints or implementing damage control measures.
- Ability to creatively solve problems and to make accurate decisions within tight timelines.

- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, HELM and TAP.

- Knowledge of relevant Canadian and International marine regulations.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
