Youth Justice Worker

Position: Youth Justice Worker – Permanent, Full Time

Location: White Rock, BC (Youth Justice - Youth Services Program)

Hours: 35 hours/week

Salary: $27.81/hour

We are looking for a Youth Justice Worker to join our Sources Youth Justice team! This individual must be an independent team player, have a passion for working with youth, and have a good understanding of culturally safe, trauma informed, and strength-based approaches.

Description Of Position

Reporting to the Youth Services Manager, the Youth Justice Worker is a permanent employee of Sources Community Resources. Responsibilities include providing support and monitoring of youth involved in the justice system. The Youth Justice Worker will network with and prepare written reports and/or required documentation for the MCFD Youth Probation Officer(s). The Youth Justice Worker will also provide transportation and support for youth as determined by identified goals from Youth Probation Officer. Youth Justice Outreach workers will provide positive role-modelling, connect youth with pro-social activities, and support youth in developing emotion regulation and coping skills. Other parts of this job may include supporting the youth in finding and completing community work service hours as well as conducting curfew checks. The successful candidate must demonstrate a strong ability to develop therapeutic rapport with youth. An important part of this role is to complete required documentation including completing monthly reports, providing updates to referring agent, session notes, and other administrative work. The work is outreach in nature, requires shift flexibility and is provided mainly in South Surrey and White Rock area.

• Complete various program related administration tasks

Program Specific Responsibilities

• Must have experience working with youth on probation and/or involved with the criminal justice system
• Working knowledge of mental health concerns, including common diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, FASD, substance abuse
• Training and ability to work from a culturally safe, trauma informed, harm reduction perspective an asset
• Training in Indigenous Cultural Safety an asset (Training may be accessed through Sources)
• Ability to work professionally and in collaboration with youth and MCFD staff
  
  

Qualifications

• Possess an undergraduate degree, ideally in Child and Youth Care, Youth Justice, or related
• Use of a vehicle that is safe and passes inspection
• Effectively utilize Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook and central data systems
• Effectively communicate professionally, verbally and written in English
• Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training (Training may be accessed through Sources)
• Criminal Record Check
• Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and driver's abstract
