About the Opportunity
Recovery and Integration (R & I) is a service of the Mental Health and Addictions Program. Connections Halifax, within this portfolio, is guided by principles of a recovery-oriented approach, psychosocial rehabilitation, and community development, offering opportunities for people living with mental illness to participate and receive support for successful community living. This program includes community outreach, employment, education, treatment, wellness, health promotion, and family support & education, aimed at enhancing independence, accomplishment, and self-worth.
Under the direction of the Health Services Manager and supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT), the Occupational Therapy Assistant completes therapeutic and technical support duties in delivering occupational therapy services to clients. They must adhere to Nova Scotia Health Authority policies and procedures.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Graduated from a recognized community college occupational assistant program with a minimum of 300 hours of clinical experience
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- WHMIS
- Experience in providing employment support and knowledge about employment cooperatives is an asset
- Knowledge of commercially available assistive devices and equipment
- Basic computer skills
- Competencies in other languages are an asset, French preferred
- Successful external applicants must provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) before starting employment

Hours
- Permanent Full-Time Position; 75 hours biweekly
Compensation and Benefits
$24.11 - $27.40 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan (Permanent Long Assignments Only).
