Department Lead - Trees & Shrubs

GARDENWORKS Burnaby is looking for an energetic and passionate gardening enthusiast who is customer service focused and enjoys sharing knowledge with others! This is a lead position mentoring under the Department Manager.

This is a full-time position 40 hours per week. Salary $21 – 24/hour.

Overview of role:

• Building sales and supporting the GARDENWORKS Brand by providing outstanding service to our guests
• Sharing your gardening knowledge - informing guests about care & maintenance of their plants, asking questions to help solve gardening concerns
• Receiving, maintenance, & pricing of all incoming plant material, ensuring it is in good health
• Working with the store merchandiser creating inspiring displays, managing product placement that is reflective of trend and supports brand messaging

Is this you?

• A passion for what we do – connecting people to nature and growing!
• Knowledge of trees & shrubs, including proper growing and maintenance requirements
• 3+ years’ customer service experience, preferably in a retail setting
• Strong organization skills are self-directed, and you work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strength in Microsoft Excel, and utilizing our POS system for sales reporting
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including weekends, and holidays as seasonal peaks require, including store opening and closing responsibilities
• This position requires extended periods of walking and standing, as well as the ability to perform some light lifting with exposure to various weather conditions and environments
• Forklift certification or willingness to go through our in-house training program
