Casual Education Assistants

School District No. 59 (Peace River South) is accepting applications for Casual, Temporary and Regular Education Assistants in Chetywnd BC School District No. 59 (PRS) has a strong belief in professional development, meeting students where they are, and providing a rich meaningful experience for all learners. Education Assistants participate in the implementation of individual programs for students in the areas of: academic/intellectual, social/emotional, behaviour, and independence in an inclusive environment. An Education Assistant Diploma is desired; however lesser qualified applicants may be considered. Successful applicants will posses a variety of skills, including:

Ability to work effectively with a full range of students, including students with special needs, utilizing specific skills and training.

Ability to provide educational and functional support at k-12 levels

The ability to use patience, tolerance and understanding in building and maintaining rapport with students.

Strong communication skills while working collaboratively with teachers, administrators and colleagues

Ability to perform physical activities, such as lifting, transferring and assisting students in a variety of activities and providing personal care as necessary.

SD 59 offers a comprehensive compensation package with includes extended health and dental benefits, life insurance, and pension plan. Rate of pay as casual is $25.83/hour plus vacation percentage starting at 4%. Rate of pay for temporary and regular positions is $29.83/hour.
