How You’ll Make an Impact
The ETF Strategist will be responsible for driving Fidelity’s ETF sales and AUM growth by engaging with financial advisors and various centers of influence across multiple distribution channels in their assigned territories, working alongside the Fidelity Sales team. The ETF Strategist will be responsible for communicating investment philosophies, process, and ongoing product updates to Fidelity’s clients, prospects, and (Do-It-Yourself) DIY investors. The role will support the sales efforts of a regional sales territory and its Regional VP Sales (RVPs), District VP Sales (DVPs), Business Development Managers (BDMs) and Business Development Associates (BDAs). Beyond sales, the ETF Strategist will also support all major Fidelity stakeholders to provide ETF expertise regarding industry trends, competitor intelligence, Fidelity’s product offerings, and portfolio construction ideas. The role will also represent Fidelity at industry events, as well as participating in speaking engagements at Fidelity and external events. The ETF Strategist will be involved in all aspects of product development and management of Fidelity ETFs. This role will report to the Director, ETF & Alternatives Strategy.
What You Will Do
Establish Fidelity Canada as an industry leader in ETFs
- Build, maintain and communicate an expert level of knowledge on Fidelity ETFs, their related products and the capital markets in which they invest.
- Develop relationships in an assigned regional territory with Fidelity salespeople, their prospects, clients and industry participants.
- Identify opportunities to develop and execute sales strategies that will maximize market penetration and increase customer loyalty.
- Engage with key partners within the sales organization to support educational initiatives for the sales development program (SDP) to ensure our (Business Development Representative) BDR, BDA, and BDM cohorts have the support and resources to foster the growth of their knowledge around ETFs, thus ensuring a strong and equipped sales force for years ahead. Educate and promote the ETF’s investment philosophy, process, performance, and competitive strengths.
- Engage appropriate consulting and gatekeeper communities to provide investment transparency and build organizational awareness.
- Provide thought leadership and insights regarding the marketplace and competitors, with emphasis on differentiating competitor investment process and investment performance.
- Present at internal and external conferences to both provide and maintain a high degree of knowledge around the ETF and Capital Markets landscape in Canada and abroad.
Drive Fidelity ETF net sales and AUM Growth
- Be an advisor to our advisor partners, acting in a subject matter expert capacity on a niche, sophisticated and rapidly growing area of our business.
- Engage meaningfully with existing core and prospective advisors and support existing DVP efforts to expand knowledge and use of appropriate ETF solutions, so as to enhance existing partnerships and foster new growth.
- Develop relationships and gain the trust of the Fidelity sales teams to become a sought-after resource to be leveraged in the sales process in both offensive and defensive capacities. Help DVPs/BDMs develop and manage ETF business plan for their territory to include segmented business approach by client type, and opportunity.
- Identify opportunities to develop and execute sales strategies that will drive net sales, maximize market penetration, increase customer loyalty, and thus strengthen relative market share in the ETF space.
- Partner with sales to educate and provide constantly evolving investment thesis updates for each of our ETF offerings that are relevant and timely in the current market backdrop.
- Work closely with our portfolio managers and other related internal investment professionals, as required, in order to maintain an open line of communication to allow the ETF Strategist to serve as an extension of the PM in order to share timely thoughts and ideas.
- Participate in industry events and conferences, such as the MoneyShow or Exchange Traded Forum to educate DIY investors and investment professionals, respectively, about ETF investing and Fidelity solutions.
Support Sales, Marketing & Corporate Affairs with timely & relevant ETF information
- Provide expert insights into the development of external investment communication material ensuring that ETF positioning is accurate, compelling and understood relative to investment objective and competitor products.
- Assist in the development and analysis of thought leadership pieces for the DIY, advisor and institutional channels.
- Support investment and product education with varying degrees of ETF knowledge on ETF products and related capital markets information.
- Provide insight and counsel for investment solution improvement and product development initiatives.
What You’ll Need
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience with ETFs (e.g. Construction, trading, sales etc)
- Completion of 4 Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
- CFA/MBA/CFP/CAIA/CPA/CFP/CIM designation or relevant accreditation is an asset
- Highly effective and consistent written and verbal communication capabilities; excellent presentation skills
- Ability to successfully articulate detailed mechanics of investment process
- Successful track record of investment presentation creation and delivery to broad spectrum of constituencies
- Ability to build strong relationships and work in a highly collaborative environment, with a frequent focus on gaining consensus across a broad spectrum of investment management, distribution, product management and senior management constituents
- Minimum of 7 years of sales experience in a wholesale investment services environment with a proven track record of success
- Ability to travel frequently, with the potential for 1-2 days per week
