MAINTENANCE SUPERINTENDENT

Reporting to Sawmill Superintendent, this position is an advanced level position and part of the Williams Lake Lumber leadership team. In addition, you will also be responsible for high level supervision of the saw filing, electrical, oiler, cleanup and millwrighting crews. This position requires a strong background in maintenance and proven strong supervisory, leadership and safety skills.

Responsibilities Include

  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Provide leadership for the Maintenance department by being a role model in all areas including safety, working relationships, quality and training
  • Utilize established performance management system to develop direct reports in the best interest of West Fraser (costs, overtime, absenteeism, employee performance)
  • Improve uptime by identifying and managing downtime.
  • Provide maintenance supervisors & planners with the tools and manpower to keep their area’s equipment reliable
  • Develop, implement, monitor and report on systems for: personnel development, system design, cost control and equipment availability

Our Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Mechanical tradesman with 10 years of maintenance experience
  • Must possess knowledge of maintenance management system
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Organized and accountable
  • Financial planning & budgeting experience
