Are you passionate about creating great workplace cultures? At NorLand, we’re looking for a trusted advisor to join our team as a People & Culture Business Partner. In this role, you’ll support hourly (primarily unionized) and salaried staff and people managers by providing employee relations guidance. The role includes compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, and standards, leave of absence and return to work management, and training and development, with the overall objective of supporting NorLand’s exceptional employee experience and growth-oriented business goals.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Employee relations, supporting managers in addressing and resolving issues, providing coaching, completing investigations and documentation, and identifying areas for improvement through training.
  • Ensuring employee and manager compliance with internal and external policies and standards.
  • Supporting and improving leave of absence and return to work programs.
  • Identifying learning and development opportunities to strengthen skills in the field to advance NorLand’s objectives and enable team members to grow within the business.
  • Promoting, living, and embedding the NorLand Values through all day-to-day interactions.

What we’re looking for:

  • You have been responsible for providing employee relations and performance management in a construction-related environment. Experience with unionized hourly and salaried employees and People Managers in a complex business with multiple units and/or Provinces will be differentiators.
  • You bring strong applied knowledge of BC Employment Standards, WorkSafeBC requirements and programs and unionized environments. You are able to interpret, author, and improve policies and procedures.
  • You have led quantifiable improvements to employee relations programs overall, such as implementing new systems or processes, engaging people managers to adopt best practices or bringing creative approaches to drive results.
  • You possess a valid BC Driver’s License and access to reliable personal transportation to travel to job sites throughout the BC Lower Mainland that are not transit accessible. Occasional overnight travel to work sites and offices in the BC Interior, Vancouver Island, and Alberta is part of the role.


Compensation

The role is a permanent, full-time position with a typical salary range of $75,000 to $95,000 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, and experience. NorLand offers a comprehensive total rewards package that includes a competitive base salary, extended health and dental plans with premiums fully paid by the company, as well as, paid time off and RRSP matching.
