Your Role @ Chanel:
As a Visual Merchandiser, you will maintain the highest standards of merchandising and presentation following current company guidelines as well as ensuring brand cohesion across our Vancouver and Calgary boutiques. You may at times be requested to assist & support other CHANEL boutiques in Canada. You will uphold the brand image through all categories and presentation methods with a view to maximize the visual impact and the commercial potential within boutiques. You will help oversee and support any promotional activity, including sites, windows, and special events.
You will communicate at various levels, both externally and internally, as well as being reliable, supportive and flexible as the business demands, including some out of hours/weekend work as required. The job will involve some travel whilst working across boutiques which are located in Canada.

Personal Effectiveness
- Efficient monitoring and review of suitable weekly journey planners, relevant weekly reports and other necessary administration from Visual Merchandising
- Implementing set designs, plans and window schemes, ensuring brand consistency within “the look” and presentation of windows and boutique displays
- Styling and dressing of mannequins as well as window schemes making use of creative lighting for window displays
- Respecting “the codes” and recommendations whilst also making use of creativity
- Suitable ordering of the merchandising and display items
- Maximising the space and layout of the store; using available space to the best advantage
- Giving feedback to the Fashion Director and to the Boutique Managers; visiting boutiques, working with boutique sales staff to develop their understanding of the VM presentations
- Photographing the boutique windows, each wall and every display, in order to create a visual merchandising pack to send out to other boutiques (to ensure that all stores are consistent with the company brand and image)
- Implementing the designs and plans created by Paris Image Department, which may involve manual work including lifting, carrying and climbing ladders
- Effective verbal and written communication at various levels both externally and internally to include Line Manager(s), store teams and head office, primarily to advise and update on any queries regarding visual merchandising, presentation and promotions and any boutique issues
- To provide prompt and accurate, verbal and written information as requested by the Fashion Director
- Checking of VM schedule for information and updates as well as appropriate
- Ensure follow-ups and prompt completion of weekly activities and regular reports provided to line management
- To demonstrate an appropriate and courteous manner at all times as well as adhering to rules and guidelines for all sites visited
- To ensure that the best levels of customer care are offered at all times, providing relevant support and advice to store teams regarding visual merchandising guidelines
- To work effectively with store management
- Ensure that any Client approach is facilitated in the correct manner.
- Should a client approach you for assistance; smile, make eye contact, be polite and considerate of their needs and offer to find a boutique sales consultant to assist them
- To present a smart, well-groomed personal appearance at all times, reflecting the image of the company
- In addition to being well presented, flexible and self motivated the ability to work independently, showing initiative and enthusiasm
- Timely and accurate completion of general boutique visual merchandising, administration, adhering to set procedures and policies as appropriate
- To maintain and respect company property as appropriate
- Assist with the preparation as well as attending regular events, including special events, promotions etc.
- Adhere to relevant Health & Safety as well as Security procedures and guidelines at all times
- Successfully participate in and complete any training provided, acquiring and applying high standards
- Actively and positively participate in any meetings
What you will bring to the role:
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a visual merchandising capacity
- The ability to multi-task, communicate at all levels and manage workload by priority/deadline across several projects, while performing under pressure
- Excellent problem-solving, time management and organisational skills
- High attention to detail & creativity, in a thorough and responsible manner
- Project Management experience is an asset
- A flexible and proactive approach
- Assertiveness balanced with respect and humbleness
- A personable personality with good networking skills and valuing teamwork
- Self-motivation, enthusiasm, and a ‘can-do’ attitude
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
