Okini (previously known as Land & Sea) Restaurant & Bar celebrates traditional and modern Japanese flavours and cooking with a West Coast flair. We are currently looking for Cook who share the same passion as us to join our dynamic team and be ambassadors of our brand. The ideal candidate has hospitality experience, thrives in a fast-paced environment, has a passion for creating memorable dining experiences and leads by example. Responsibilities:

  • Food preparation: Execute precise and consistent preparation of ingredients according to Okini's recipes and standards. Ensure freshness and quality in every dish.
  • Cooking mastery: Take command of various cooking methods, including grilling, sautéing, frying, and baking, to deliver exceptional and flavourful dishes. Maintain a keen eye on cooking times and temperatures.
  • Station coordination: Work seamlessly with fellow kitchen team members to ensure a smooth flow of service. Communicate effectively to coordinate the timing of dishes and maintain a high level of efficiency during peak hours.
  • Quality control: Conduct regular quality checks on ingredients and finished dishes to uphold Okini's standards. Identify and address any issues promptly to guarantee customer satisfaction.
  • Cleanliness and organization: Keep your work station and the overall kitchen area clean and organized. Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to create a safe and hygienic working environment.

Menu knowledge:

Stay informed about menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods. Collaborate with the chef to make recommendations for improvements and enhancements to the menu.

Adaptability:

Thrive in a dynamic kitchen environment by adapting to changing priorities and responding effectively to high-pressure situations. Embrace a "can-do" attitude to contribute to the success of the kitchen team.
