Responsibilities

Purpose of Role:
Western Sports & Recreation seeks a motivated individual for a leadership role in the Membership Services team, providing supervision and direction to staff. Shift Leaders oversee mentoring, training, and performance management, acting as the point of contact for emergencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the membership services team.
  • Support communication channels across teams and with professional staff.
  • Initiate staff meetings, design training sessions, and prepare news bulletins.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and policies, respond to emergencies, and administer first aid as required.
  • Assist in staff engagement, employee documentation, and data collection.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR Instructor Certification.
  • Commitment to work 15-20 hours per week within a flexible schedule.
  • Current full-time student at Western, enrolled in a minimum of 3.5 courses.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and teamwork.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and encourage learning among team members.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn software programs.
  • Positive attitude with customer service orientation.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Personable and courteous in relationships with others.
  • Independent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Experience:

  • Prior leadership experience on campus or in a fitness and recreation facility.
  • Prior customer service experience.
  • Familiarity with Campus Recreation programs, services, and facilities is an asset.
