Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing, the Director, Strategic Sourcing plays a pivotal role in leading supplier sourcing relationships for McKesson Global Procurement and Sourcing (MGPS). The role will lead the Canada-based team that manages contractual sourcing and supply relationships with OTC-CPG suppliers, for both Own Brands and National Brands with the objective of sourcing a portfolio of products and growing supplier yield for both distribution and retail businesses. The Director will set the overall strategy and lead the day-to-day engagement with suppliers, leading negotiation activities, ensuring the proper execution of contracts, and assessing overall vendor performance. The Director will ensure consistent alignment and execution with Category Management and Operations stakeholders in Canada on product launch and maintenance and seek opportunities for Global Sourcing across McKesson’s enterprise Private Label business.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive sourcing center of excellence for both McKesson Own Brands and private label products managed for Wholesale customers.

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers and manufacturers to ensure optimal cost, quality, and reliability.

  • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with suppliers to secure favorable agreements.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure long-term collaboration and performance.

  • Collaborate with product development, quality assurance, and marketing teams to align sourcing strategies with product and brand objectives.

  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to identify new sourcing opportunities and innovations.

  • Manage the end-to-end sourcing process, including RFPs, supplier audits, and performance evaluations.

  • Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and cost-saving initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and ethical sourcing practices.

  • Act as the main stakeholder that will ensure her/his team understand the Category needs and goals of all McKesson retail businesses.

  • The Director continuously seeks ways to mobilize his/her team in seeking and implementing innovative methods for maintaining, renewing, and creating revenue-generating agreements by focusing on financial performance.

  • Collaborate with both MGPS colleagues responsible for sourcing in other markets to share best practices and joint source where applicable, and US Category Management to share market insights on product performance, shortages, and new product introduction opportunities.

  • Collaborate with McKesson Sales, Operations, and key customers to uncover value-add opportunities and programs presented by supplier community.

  • Responsible and sustainable sourcing responsibilities include developing sourcing strategies to ensure ethical procurement practices across the supply chain, conducting thorough assessments of suppliers to ensure compliance with ESG standards, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability goals into sourcing decisions and vendor selection processes.

  • Support the day-to-day National Brand distribution relationships to maximize yield through buy-side margin programs.

Position Requirements

Working Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in strategic negotiations, vendor relationship management, strategic sourcing, manufacturer planning, and category management.

  • Wholesale distribution experience is an asset.

  • Retail category management experience is an asset.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Operations Management, or equivalent.

The incumbent of this position will provide daily support to internal and/or external clients outside Quebec and/or in the United States. Therefore, he/she must be proficient in spoken and written English.
