Education:

• Certificate or diploma from a college, CEGEP, or other non-university educational institution in a program lasting 1 to 2 years or equivalent experience.

Experience:

1 year to less than 2 years

Tasks:

• Estimate the quantity and cost of supplies and foodstuffs.
• Keep records of food costs, consumption, and sales, and maintain inventory.
• Explain new culinary techniques and equipment to kitchen staff.
• Supervise the work of specialized chefs, cooks, and other kitchen employees.
• Create new recipes.
• Teach cooks the preparation, cooking, garnishing, and presentation of food.
• Prepare and cook specialty meals or foods for events like banquets.
• Supervise cooks and kitchen staff.
• Prepare and cook food for special guests or special occasions.
• Order kitchen supplies and food.
• Draft menus and ensure food quality meets standards.
• Oversee the activities of sous-chefs, specialized chefs, and cooks.

Hours:

30 to 35 hours per week
