How You Will Contribute

The Converged Packet Optical R&D hardware team is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative PCB layout designer to develop high-speed, high complexity, multilayer circuit packs for communication products. The PCB Layout Designer will use Cadence Allegro layout toolset to extract the netlist from schematic capture, and perform printed circuit board artwork design and deliver a complete design package for fabrication.

• Work under supervision to deliver a complete PCB documentation package that meets the quality system requirements.
• Perform component placement to meet electrical, mechanical and thermal constraints.
• Develop detailed routing strategy and perform PCB routing to meet electrical specifications.
• Participate in design reviews and work with various teams (hardware, mechanical, component, operations, test, product integrity, thermal) to resolve issues.
• Complete layout verification at ODB++ to ensure compliance to Design For Manufacturability requirements.
  
  

The Must Haves

• College graduate with Electrical/Electronic Technology Diploma or Associate CAD Diploma
• 5+ years of PCB Layout work and experience with CAD/CAM
• Familiarity with Cadence Allegro and Other Cad tools is essential.
• Knowledge of constraint manager.
• Manual routing and controlled auto-routing.
• Forward / backward schematic annotation.
• Have good knowledge of PCB technologies, and familiar with mix analog and hi-speed digital circuits.
• Strong knowledge and experience with high-speed routing methodologies, single ended & differential controlled impedance design, power/ground planes, terminations, Via technologies, board materials and stack-ups, safety isolation requirements, EMC/EMI considerations, manufacturability constraints, and manufacturing test requirements
• Understanding of the PCB design process and required deliverables
• Values customers and relationships and aims to exceed customer expectations
• Participate in process change and improvement forums

• Familiarity with high-speed hardware design and photonic interfaces

Pay Range

The annual pay range for this position is $80,900 - $129,200 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
