Position: Automation Operations Supervisor (One Year Contract)
Job Overview:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position assists in the planning and directing of all pick tower shift activities and labour in the warehouse. In conjunction with the Operations Manager, this role is accountable for ensuring that the shift is prepared for daily operations. Responsible for supervising the pre-reception, picking, storage, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Perform day-to-day responsibility with minimum supervision by managing labour and tasks to achieve business results. Operations Manager and/or DC Manager provide guidance on special issues.
Accountabilities:
Leadership and People Management
- Upholding and modelling the company’s values of Honesty, Trustworthiness and Mutual Respect in all actions and behaviours
- Assist Operations Manager in motivating and developing team members and by providing regular feedback and completion of performance appraisals
- Ensures that team members understand and comply with company standards, policies and procedures including health and safety, loss prevention, food safety and human resource policies i.e. Uniform/dress code
- Coaches, trains and disciplines team members to maintain the highest level of personal and team productivity by ensuring strong technical skills and on-going product knowledge
- Conducts team member 5-minute huddles to ensure strong communication on company initiatives, goals and objectives
- Provides assistance to team members in completing warehouse activities as required
Safety, Equipment, Sanitation, Security
- Ensuring all team members adhere to food safety standards
- Ensuring that all team members adhere to all health and workplace safety standards
- Ensuring that all team members adhere to proper sanitization and cleaning procedures
- Assist in maintaining warehouse security
- Ensure the efficient and safe operation of
- Implementing Warehouse Initiatives
- Supports DC Manager in implementing of all Warehouse initiatives that support the Genuine Merchant Strategy
Operations
- Supervise and direct warehouse pick tower operations, leveraging your experience with conveyor systems to achieve performance targets while maintaining service levels to stores
- Determines daily operational plan, sets priorities and assigns employees as required. Request additional resources if required
- Manage labour to achieve desired throughput and efficiencies
- Work with IC team to optimize pick tower slotting to meet performance targets
- Track hospital lane issues and work with vendors to resolve
- Proactively investigate and resolve operational issues as they develop
- Responsible to ensure quality standards are met by visually auditing product, analyzing computer data and reviewing paperwork
- Mentor and provide support to drive productivity
- Responsible for creating a work environment that is inclusive of diversity, free of discrimination and free of conflict
- Ensure that the workplace is safe and meets all legislative requirements. Has responsibility for housekeeping and ensuring only trained employees operate material handling equipment
- Ensuring accuracy in all inventory, shipping, receiving, picking, putaway and replenishment procedures.
- Identify and investigate inventory discrepancies.
- Ensure Optimal Use of Space.
- Train team members in duties and policies.

- Prepare and submit reports
- Establish work schedules and procedures
- Ensure smooth operation of computer, workstation and machinery
- Conduct performance reviews
- Coordinate activities with other work units or departments
- Arrange for maintenance and repair work
- Responsible for the allocation and proper use of equipment such as RF devices
- Hands on when required
Logistics
- Ensure optimal cubing for picked pallets
- Ensure pallets are wrapped safely and staged in correct lanes for shipping
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Post secondary education and a minimum of 2 years of distribution experience
- Proven leadership skills and/or leadership training
- Good understanding of warehouse operations within a distribution setting
- Appropriate knowledge of maintenance and care of equipment, materials and supplies
- Knowledge of Employment Standards, WHMIS, Food Safety and Loss Prevention practices
Working Conditions:
- Afternoon Shift
- Mandatory - Sunday shift.
- Work is performed in a standard warehouse environment with participation in meetings at the office
- Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities with regular deadlines
- Travel to various Warehouse locations if required
- Ability to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays as business needs
