Responsibilities
- Assist in the completion of tax engagements by computing taxes owed, preparing personal and corporate tax returns (and other compliance slips), preparing year-end tax forms (T4s and T5s), calculating and reviewing share capital, trust tax returns, partnership returns, capital dividend account elections, section 85 tax elections and other tax compliance forms.
- Review legal documents such as articles of incorporation, purchase agreements and amalgamation agreements
- Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with managers or engagement partners to develop resolutions
- Correspond with clients and various government agencies to address client tax compliance issues
- Assist in the preparation of tax instruction letters, technical memorandums and client reporting letters and documentation to support a working paper file
- Work collaboratively with the client engagement team

- Post-secondary degree or certificate in accounting or another relevant field
- Experience in an accounting, customer service and/or client service environment is preferred
- Experience in financial statement analysis and preparation of tax returns is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act
- Experience working with accounting and tax software is considered an asset
