Class 5 Driver

Position Summary

The Class 5 Driver will be relied upon to visit various client sites to collect and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials. As a professional driver with a safe driving record, you will utilize TDG knowledge and experience to assist with labeling containers and preparing transport documentation. The chosen individual will perform this diverse range of activities with a focus on safety, professionalism, and teamwork.

Key Accountabilities

• Safely operate all required equipment.
• Professionally represent GFL on all client sites and look for ways to expand services.
• Ensure all assigned equipment is properly loaded and maintained.
• Keep accurate drivers’ logs as required to document mileage, hours and material hauled.
• Communicate effectively with a team of qualified professionals.
• Participate in safety meetings, last minute risk assessments and job hazard assessments.
• Identify and classify all types of hazardous waste.
• Handle drum dollies and pallet jacks for the transportation and loading of materials.
  
  

Requirements

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with Air Brakes and a clean Commercial Driving Abstract.
• Ability to operate vehicles with a manual transmission is an asset.

• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Demonstrated organizational skills with strong oral and written communication abilities.
• Excellent customer service skills
• Exceptional organizational abilities with task prioritization, multi-tasking, use of timelines and time management techniques.
• Ability to work safely and independently.
• High level of personal integrity.
• Strong work ethic.
• Professional/mature demeanor under stressful situations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors.
• Manual dexterity, ability to lift 75+ lbs required.
