Technical Assistant (Environmental)

As the Technical Assistant you will perform tasks required for successful development and execution of the City’s Solid Waste Management Programs within the Environmental Branch.

As the Seasonal Technical Assistant you will:

• Assist with the environmental monitoring of landfill gas, leachate, surface water and groundwater at and around the City of Winnipeg’s Landfills.

• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, external contacts and the public, in accordance with the Respectful Workplace Standard.

Your education and qualifications include:

• Successful completion of at least 1 year of a recognized post-secondary program in Civil/CAD Engineering Technology, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Public Administration, Environmental Design, Resource Management, Science, Social Science, or City Planning.

• May be required to provide a vehicle for transportation.

Conditions of employment:

• The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.

• Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver’s Licence.

• Must be physically capable of performing all the duties of this position, which may include, but are not limited to: working outdoors in potentially unfavorable weather conditions or for extended periods of time and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
