Swim Instructor

Purpose: The Swim Instructor provides safe and effective supervision of the pool area and instruction for programs following the relevant policies and regulations under the direction of the Manager, Recreation Programs.

Education: Successful completion of all York University required trainings, included but not limited to WHMIS, AODA and Health and Safety Training. Required Qualifications: All swimming instructors must have the following certifications as per Regulation 5651) Current aquatic instructor award from recognized service provider (Lifesaving Society) 2) Current Standard First Aid with CPR C from one of the following national partners Lifesaving Society, Red Cross and St. John Ambulance. *Please note all qualifications must remain current throughout duration of employment.

Experience: Previous work experience may be considered.

Skills: Effective communication skills. Ability to provide instruction and support others in developing knowledge or skills. Ability to promote an environment in which everyone feels engaged.
