Role Overview

Champak Magazine, a renowned publication dedicated to children's literature and entertainment, is seeking a dynamic and creative individual to join our editorial team as an Assistant Editor – Books and Web. This is an exciting opportunity for editors to work at the intersection of book publishing and web content for a legacy brand in the field of publishing. If you are a reader and a book lover witheditorial excellence and a knack for long-form web content, then you are who we are looking for.This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the entire lifecycle of a book, from its creation to reaching the hands of eager readers, as well as curating content for Champak’s web presence. Responsibilities

Market Research:

    • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive landscapes, and opportunities for innovation in books. Stay informed about literary trends and market demands.
Story Selection

    • Work with the editorial team to contribute to the selection of stories that align with Champak’s goals and resonate with the target market.
Book Development

  • Collaborate with authors, editorial, and design teams to develop high-quality, compelling books that resonate with target audiences.

Communication

  • Communicate effectively and foster positive relationships with internal teams, authors, and external publisher partners to align book development with editorial goals.

Web Content

  • Manage and enhance the websitecontent ofChampak, curating content from our vast archives to give a glimpse of our product offerings to the customers and utilizing SEO best practices for maximising content performance.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Marketing, English, Communications, Liberal Arts, or a related field.
  • 2-3 years of editorial experience in a traditional publishing house or a digital content platform, working with long-form content
  • Creative mindset with the ability to think strategically and contribute innovative ideas, and the conviction to make them happen.
  • Technical Skills: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Google Suite, InDesign, WordPress, Content Management Systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills along with project management, organization skills and attention to detail
