Queensway Carleton Hospital is seeking a versatile candidate with specific experience supporting change management associated with large, complex IT projects to join our Communications team. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the ideal candidate is a communications professional possessing diverse skill set including expertise in writing, graphic design, digital communications and the development of fulsome communications plans and strategies. This role exists in a dynamic small-team environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, design, and implement a comprehensive communications plan for a large, complex IT project, ensuring alignment with the organization’s change management objectives
  • Lead the planning and execution of events and communications initiatives to celebrate the hospital’s 50th anniversary, ensuring alignment with the organization's strategic objectives and brand
  • Execute the communications plan across various mediums, including eNewsletters, graphic design, tip sheets, stories, videos, and other communication channels, to effectively support and engage stakeholders throughout the project, tracking progress of plan using a variety of project management tools and principles
  • Conduct interviews with staff, patients, and families, transforming the content into compelling stories that are shared digitally to enhance the hospital’s profile and reinforce its culture. Additionally, act as a journalist within the hospital, identifying and crafting stories for external audiences that highlight the hospital's values and impact
  • Represent the Communications Department on a variety of internal and external committees and task forces.
  • Support other hospital projects and initiatives, as identified.
  • Demonstrate the QCH values of collaboration, accountability, innovation and respect.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • College Diploma in Communications related field (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Professional Writing)
  • Two (2) years of related experience in a communications role supporting change management activities through internal communication
  • In lieu of formal education, five (5) years of related experience in a communications role supporting large scale, complex IT projects
  • Experience using design software (Canva, etc) and eNewsletter platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in graphic design to create unique, colorful designs for social media, digital screens and internal posters.
  • Superior writing skills, without the use of AI.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Motivation, judgment, experience, and professional skills needed to manage a diverse portfolio of communication responsibilities.

PREFERRED:

  • Undergraduate degree in Communications related field (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or Professional Writing)
  • Demonstrated experience leading/supporting Change and Communication throughout an organization, during a Health IT Project (Ideally through an EHR Advanced Clinical implementation)
  • PROSCI certification
  • Video editing & Photography
  • Experience using project management software (MS Project, Monday.com, Asana etc.)
  • Event planning
