Position: Procurement Specialist

Location: Edmonton Home Office - Remote

Classification: Full Time

Your area of focus.

The Procurement Specialist will play a key role in driving meaningful change and shaping procurement strategies from the ground up. They will introduce innovative ideas and best practices aligned with the company’s vision, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve fiscal discipline and create value through effective sourcing, partnerships, and vendor management. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact and contribute to the company’s success.

What drives your day-to-day?

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate favorable terms, and manage vendor performance.
  • Identifying potential suppliers, participating in RFI/RFQ and competitive bid processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align sourcing decisions with business needs.
  • Oversee the contract lifecycle, including negotiation, amendment, renewal, and execution of contracts. Ensure compliance with legal, regulators and company policies and monitor contract performance to mitigate risk.
  • Promote supplier diversity initiatives and environmentally responsible practices in the procurement process.
  • Utilize procurement analytics and reporting tools to track key performance indicators, monitor supplier performance and generate insights for decision-making.

What Are The Must-haves…

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in business, commerce, economics, or relevant field.
  • Certificates in procurement, supply chain management, or equivalent are a plus.
  • Have a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience in procurement, with a track record of successful procurement initiatives and cost savings.
  • Knowledge of procurement practices, including sourcing strategies, vendor management and contract negotiation.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Firm grasp of Excel and Tableau is a plus.
  • Positive, proactive approach to enhancing procurement methods and company practices.
  • Willingness to be hands-on and take ownership over deliverables.
  • Collaborative mindset with an openness to multiple perspectives.
  • Able to interact with internal business staff and external vendor and contractor personnel effectively and professionally.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. #
