Job Brief

The Transportation Operations department is accepting applications for up to three (3) Seasonal Term positions of Patching Technician.

The Transportation Operations department is accepting applications for up to three (3) Seasonal Term positions of Patching Technician.

Pay Rate: $29.33 per hour

Status: The term will be approximately 5 - 6 months, beginning in April

IMPORTANT: Day and weekend shift work will be required

Duties

This position, under direction of a Patching Leadhand, includes performing patching duties such as:

• Tacking, raking, rolling and transporting asphalt relating to the pavement
• Re-surfacing and repair of streets and alleys using hot and cold asphalt materials
• Small surface repairs, dig and patch jobs, regular potholes and other road maintenance tasks
  
  

Qualifications

• Valid class 5 operator license with no more than 5 demerit points
• Alberta Temporary Traffic Control (ATTC) Training (considered an asset)
• Current certification in Defensive Driving (considered an asset)
• Current first aid certification (considered an asset)
• Experience in the safe and proficient operation of tools and equipment for the position
• Applicants must be able to deal tactfully and diplomatically with the public.
• Good communication and teamwork skills are necessary to carry out duties based upon oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction within a team setting.
• The physical ability and stamina to perform heavy manual labour for extended periods of time under various weather conditions is critical
