IMCO is looking for a highly motivated Manager, Financial Reporting to join our team! This is a 9 month contract position.
The Manager, Financial Reporting will be responsible for the preparation and oversight of financial reporting deliverables related to IMCO corporate and its subsidiaries, IMCO-sponsored pool funds and investment legal entities. This role will enhance our current “best in class” reporting to contribute to IMCO’s reputation of integrity through transparent disclosure of financial information to management and our external stakeholders.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Financial Reporting and Policy, the ideal candidate will have strong accounting technical skills, preferably with investment products and proven experience in financial statement reporting and financial close processes. This professional will be highly motivated, with strong communication skills and have the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders and partners throughout the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare the quarterly and annual financial statements for IMCO corporate entity under IFRS, including completing accounting entries and financial close processes related to IMCO subsidiary entities.
- Lead the preparation of annual audited financial statements for IMCO investment pool funds coordinating with external custodian and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare investment legal entity financial statements and supplemental financial information, as required.
- Develop and update accounting policies in accordance with IFRS standards.
- Liaise with external auditors in the coordination and execution on the corporate, pool fund annual audits and legal entity audits.
- Provide oversight and controls over financial disclosures related to IMCO’s annual report.
- Support the Accounting Operations team to improve effectiveness and efficiency on month-end and year-end procedures including expense accruals and reconciliations. Assist with the preparation and review of these procedures as required from time to time.
- Partner with the Enterprise Portfolio Management team to provide financial support on strategic projects.
- Ensure appropriate working papers are in place to support financial reporting, and all process and control documentation is up to date for audit purposes.
- Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.
What you need to succeed:
- A professional accounting designation (i.e., CA/CPA) in good standing from a recognized accountancy body.
- 8+ years of related industry experience (preferably in asset management or financial services industry).
- Strong technical accounting skills (i.e. IFRS and ASPE) and background in public company accounting/auditing; ability to quickly grasp internal controls and procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) is required.
- Experience in developing and documenting detailed accounting policies and procedures.
- Positive interpersonal skills and strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to foster effective working relationships internally across the organization and externally.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to excel in a high performing culture, fast-paced environment, and with time-sensitive deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to change while staying focused on key objectives.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work with stakeholders across the organization.
