BLG’s Environmental, Municipal, Expropriation and Regulatory Group (EMER) is home to many of Canada’s most highly recognized expropriation, municipal, environmental, and regulatory lawyers. Housed within Canada’s largest law firm, this specialized group represents many of Ontario’s municipalities as well as significant public institutions and private corporations.

The Toronto office of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG), Canada’s leading, innovative and client-focused law firm, is seeking:

Associate – Disputes (EMER)

We are looking for

The ideal candidate will have 3 – 5 years of experience practicing in municipal law, be creative, and have sound judgment, and experience assisting clients with some or all of:

  • land acquisition and expropriation projects, with some real estate knowledge (note that general real estate title and transactional experience particularly in acting for municipalities or land development/condominium real estate experience are transferrable practices and would be considered an asset)
  • land use planning approvals and appeals
  • advocacy at the Ontario Land Tribunal
